Online

Before transmitting any messages or files online, we recommend you use a secure web browser such as Tor, which allows you to browse the web without websites learning your location. To further protect yourself, use a public wireless network, such as WiFi found in a coffee shop or public library.

Once you have downloaded Tor and established a secure connection, open this webpage in your Tor browser and continue reading below to view our options for securely submitting tips.

Email

If you would like to email your tip to us, we recommend that you do not use your personal email. Instead, create a secondary email using a secure mailing service such as Proton Mail, which offers end-to-end encryption. Note that Proton Mail does not encrypt subject lines, so do not put sensitive or identifying information in the subject line.

Once you have your secure email account, send your tip to: localtips@proton.me
