Brampton Ward 1 is bound by Bovaird Drive East to the north, Highway 410 to the east, Mclaughlin Road to the west, and Queen Street West to the south. The median household income of the ward is $82,000, lower than the citywide median, and the ward has a higher than average poverty rate. The ward is also home to fewer immigrants and racialized residents than elsewhere in the city. Brampton wards are governed in pairs, by both a city councillor and a regional councillor. The city councillor for Wards 1 and 5 is Rowena Santos, and the regional councillor is Paul Vicente. Both were first elected in 2018.
