Ward 2 is bound by Mayfield Road to the north, Highway 410 to the east, Mclaughlin Road to the west, and Bovaird Drive to the south. The median household income in the ward is higher than the citywide rate at $106,000. There are fewer immigrants and racialized people in the ward than elsewhere in the city. Brampton wards are governed in pairs, by both a city councillor and a regional councillor. The city councillor for Wards 2 and 6 is Navji Kaur Brar, first elected to council in 2022, and the regional councillor is Michael Palleschi, first elected in 2018.

City Councillor
Navjit Kaur Brar
Biography: Navjit Kaur Brar was first elected as city council for wards 2 and 6 in 2022, and became Canada’s first turban-wearing Sikh woman elected as councillor. According to her LinkedIn, prior to being elected she worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at William Osler ProResp. Inc.
Brar was appointed as the new chair of Brampton’s Corporate Support Services in 2025, and serves as the health section chair of the Peel Regional Council. Last year, she moved a motion to standardize protocols and training for early recognition and treatment for sepsis, and moved a motion providing the city funding for the Ontario Khalsa Darbar Field Hockey Club.
Platform: On her Instagram page, Brar says she prioritizes community safety. She wants to build a new 911 communications centre to handle a higher volume of calls.
Jermaine Chambers
Biography: Jermaine Chambers is a mortgage agent for Mortgage Architects, and formerly a financial adviser who has worked for TD, Scotiabank, and CIBC. He has done volunteer work for the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Heart Lake Rotary Club in Ward 2. He previously ran for city council in 2018 and 2022, and ran as the Conservative candidate in Brampton West during the 2021 federal general election, coming second of five.
Platform: On his campaign website, Chambers’ priorities include limiting property tax increases to the rate of inflation, fostering safer and cleaner neighborhoods, finding efficiencies, making City Hall more responsive, and investing in parks and recreation centres. He wants to propose an equity-sharing program to help young people buy homes, and work on violence prevention through supporting families and expanding community supports.
Yadvinder Deswal
Biography: Little information is available online about Yadvinder Deswal. According to his Linkedin, he is the founder of and CEO of Emerland Properties Inc. He is listed as a salesperson at Homelife/Miracle Realty Ltd.
Platform: On his Instagram page, Deswal mentions building better infrastructure in Brampton. He wants to improve the process of reviewing and approving developer applications, and supports hiring more police. He wants better infrastructure at local parks.
Raghav Dhir
Biography: Raghav Dhir is a real estate broker with Homelife/Miracle Realty Ltd.
Platform: On his campaign website, Dhir says his priorities include enhanced police presence, building infrastructure before new development, lowering property taxes, and revitalizing Queen Street. He supports the ward holding regular town halls and increasing transparency at city council.
Amir Khawaja Hassan
Biography: Little information could be found online about Amir Khawaja Hassan. He ran as the Centrist Party candidate for Brampton West in the 2025 general election, listing his occupation at the time as accountant.

Gurpreet Pabla
Biography: Little information could be found online about Gurpreet Pabla. According to his Linkedin, Gurpreet Pabla is the founder and CEO of Lexington Sanitating & Disinfecting. Pabla ran for Wards 2 and 6 city council in 2014, and for regional council in 2022.
Platform: On his Instagram page, Pabla says he wants to partner with local community groups and Peel police to enhance public safety, advocate for better infrastructure in the city, and push city hall to maintain transparency with Brampton residents. He wants to cut red tape for small businesses, and expand services for youth including parks, afterschool programs, and recreation.
Keval Shah
Biography: Little information could be found online about Keval Shah. He is a Broker at Homelife/Miracle Realty Ltd.
Platform: On his campaign website, Shah proposes “value-for-money” audits across city departments and police budgets for increased transparency. He wants to exempt seniors from property taxes, expand Brampton’s hospital, and get more police on Brampton streets. He suggests Brampton’s Residential Rental Licensing program be reviewed to remove the yearly license renewal and instead focus on a complaints-based approach, easing immediate penalties and unnecessary costs and paperwork for landlords.
Rakesh Singh Thakur

Carmen Wilson
Biography: Little information could be found online about Carmen Wilson. When running for school trustee for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic board in 2014, she told the Brampton Guardian she volunteered on school parent councils and listed her occupation as “financial representative.”
Platform: On her campaign website, she says she’s committed to safer neighborhoods, transparent city spending, improved transportation and traffic reduction, and infrastructure development commensurate with growth.
Regional Councillor
Romy Dogra
Biography: Little information could be found online about Romy Dogra. He is a real estate agent at The Canadian Home Realty inc.
Platform: On his social media, Dogra says he wants to prioritize stronger bylaw enforcement, increase police presence in neighborhoods, and increase funding for neighborhoods through the city’s neighborhood association program. He wants to improve transparency in city spending.
Prempal Gill
Biography: Little information is available online about Prempal Gill. On his campaign website, he says he’s a community-focused counsellor, promoting mental wellbeing and effective communication.
Platform: On his campaign website, he says he is committed to remaining accessible to residents, supporting local businesses and initiatives that encourage entrepreneurship, and ensuring transparent city budgeting. He wants to increase frontline policing, reduce property taxes, and invest in infrastructure.
Julie Luckasavitch
Biography: Little information is available online about Julie Luckasavitch. Former Wards 2 and 6 councillor Doug Whillans endorsed her in a public Facebook post.
Platform: According to Luckasavitch’s campaign posts on Instagram and Facebook, she wants to reduce traffic congestion, improve transit, and increase speed enforcement to keep neighbourhoods safe.
Michael Paul Palleschi - Incumbent
Biography: Michael Palleschi is the incumbent regional councillor for Wards 2 and 6. He was first elected to council in 2014. Prior to being elected, Palleschi worked as an operations manager in the energy sector. He is the chair of Brampton’s Planning and Development Committee, vice-chair of the Emergency Management Program Committee, and vice-chair of the Planning and Growth Management section of the Interim Period Approvals Committee. Palleschi has also been chair of the Credit Valley Conservation since 2015.
In 2024, Palleschi was involved in the Heritage Heights Secondary Plan, including the settlement that advanced development in the area. He also brought forward a motion to establish a permanent road ecology program along Heart Lake road, focused on protecting wildlife and habitat conservation.
Platform: Palleschi’s website mentions policing to improve community safety, transparent decision making, “responsible” growth, and expanded housing, infrastructure, and parks.
Parth Sharma
Biography: Little information could be found online about Parth Sharma. He is a sales representative at Remax Real Estate Centre Inc.
Platform: On Instagram, Sharma says he wants to “Make Brampton Great Again.” He wants to scrap the 1 percent tax levy used by the city to fund expanded health care services. He also mentions parking infrastructure and road safety.
Ajaib Singh Srar
Biography: No information could be found online about Ajaib Singh Sran at the time of publishing.
Platform: On his social media, Sran says he’s committed to lowering property taxes, supporting accessible community centres, and creating stronger social services for seniors.
Sameer Tandon
Biography: Little information could be found online about Sameer Tandon. On his campaign website, he says he has experience in finance, operations, and client services.
Platform: Tandon’s priorities include responsible budgeting, increased affordable housing and transport, and stronger police enforcement and community safety initiatives. He wants to improve Peel Public Health services and advocate for local businesses, as well as more opportunities for youth employment.
